Domino's adds Avocado to its new free your flavour menu range

Domino’s pizza has come up with something new...avocado-topped pizzas.

The pizza conglomerate it set to launch its new avocado-topped range on December 11, despite predictions that there will be a shortage in supply of the popular fruit this summer.

Domino’s CEO Australia and New Zealand Nick Knight said the new pizzas were created to give pizza-lovers the flavours they want at an affordable price.

“The new menu is all about indulgence with premium ingredients and the tastes that people love,” Mr Knight said.

With avocado prices expected to rise as high as $4 by February, Mr Knight believes the new pizzas will be more affordable than a typical smashed avo dish, which can cost up to $22 at some cafes.

“For less than the price you would pay for a smashed avo on toast in most Australian cafes, Domino’s will offer traditional and premium pizzas you can share with friends,” he said.

Customers can order an avocado-topped pizza for as little as $12.95, or add the popular fruit to a pizza of their choosing for an additional $2.

“You shouldn’t have to choose between great tasting, quality ingredients and your hip pocket,” Mr Knight said.

In an interview with 60 Minutes earlier this year, property mogul Tim Gurner said that young people were spending their money on the wrong things, and cited smashed avo and $4 coffees as a prime example.

“When I was buying my first home, I wasn’t buying smashed avocado for 19 bucks and four coffees at $4 each,” he said.

In addition to avocados, Domino's will also be offering other ingredients, such as fire-roasted peppers, to its new Free Your Flavour menu. The range will include traditional and premium pizzas with high quality toppings.
